Ben Deignan, MSW Intern

We all struggle at some point in our lives. I believe our mental and emotional struggles are opportunities to grow, and most importantly, you don’t have to do it alone. One of the best things about therapy is having someone on your side who is guiding you, listening, and providing feedback as you work through these internal challenges to be your best self.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Georgia State University in 2020. Currently, I’m in my final year at the University of Georgia earning a Master of Social Work degree. After graduation, I plan to become an LCSW and to continue my work with children and adolescents.

Before pursuing my Master of Social Work, I was a Program Manager at Pebble Tossers Teen Leadership. While I was there, I developed a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) based curriculum. SEL is a skills development process focusing on self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness, relationship skills, and conflict resolution. My approach to therapy utilizes the tenets of SEL, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Growth-Mindset practices, and Mindfulness techniques.

In my spare time, I love playing guitar, kickboxing, running, doing yoga, playing chess, reading anything related to psychology and philosophy, and binge-watching TV shows.

Ben is under the supervision of Caryn Pons, LCSW.
